Build Authentic Connections

Feel grounded, connected to yourself, confident in your relationships, and authentic in your choices without losing yourself

Nadine Ferguson, MACP, RN, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor & Registered Nurse

Many people come to counselling seeking a space where they can feel genuinely seen, heard and supported. Often, that search holds layered stories, long-held strengths and quiet questions about identity and direction. My work offers a steady space to explore these with care.

Our work together is relational and collaborative, grounded in the belief that healing unfolds through connection, curiosity and safety. Sessions are guided by careful presence and non-judgement, with attention given to current challenges alongside resilience, insight and the potential for growth.

Those seeking support often arrive carrying experiences of crisis, vulnerability and transition. My experience in nursing and mental health services, spanning nearly 30 years, allows these moments to be met with steadiness and care. This has shaped an integrative and holistic approach that attends to emotional and physical experience, as well as how we navigate connection.

Clients often describe the therapeutic space as grounded, compassionate and human. Gentle humour and warmth are intentionally woven into sessions, supporting exploration that feels safe and meaningful. The work is trauma-informed and empowering, with pacing that respects each person’s nervous system and lived reality.

Sessions balance thoughtful exploration with practical support. Alongside reflection and insight, there is a focus on developing tools that support everyday life and relationships. Conversations are collaborative, honest and forward-moving.

At Shapes of Water Wellness, well-being is understood as fluid rather than fixed. Like water, we adapt and take shape through life’s changing conditions while remaining connected to what grounds us. A complimentary 30-minute consultation is available to explore fit. In-person and virtual counselling options are offered.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS invites us to get curious about the many parts within us, each with its own voice, emotion, and story. Some parts protect, some carry pain, and all of them make sense in the context of your life. Together, we’ll build relationships with these parts, helping them feel seen, understood, and less burdened. This work supports greater internal harmony, self-leadership, and a deeper sense of wholeness.

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

At its heart, AEDP is about healing through connection. This approach supports you in gently accessing deep, often painful emotions, not to get stuck in them, but to move through them toward clarity, relief, and growth. It’s grounded in the belief that we’re wired for healing, especially in the presence of a safe, attuned relationship. Together, we create the kind of connection that makes transformation possible, one rooted in safety, trust, and your innate capacity to grow.

Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is rooted in the understanding that emotions are central to how we relate, to ourselves and to others. I use this approach to help you slow down and tune into what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll explore emotional patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward greater clarity, connection, and responsiveness. This is about building relationships — inner and outer, that feel more secure, honest, and alive.

Neuroscience

With my nursing background, I bring a curious and grounded lens to how the brain and nervous system shape our emotional lives. We’ll draw from research without losing sight of your lived experience — using neuroscience as one way to better understand, support, and care for your inner world.

Attachment Theory

Our early relationships shape how we learn to connect with others and with ourselves. By exploring your attachment patterns, we can begin to understand the emotional templates that influence your responses in relationships. This isn’t about labelling or limiting, but about expanding your awareness and capacity. Together, we’ll work toward creating more flexibility, security, and intention in how you relate, both inward and outward.

Observed & Experiential Integration (OEI)

OEI is a gentle, body-based approach that uses eye movements and visual processing to help work through trauma, emotional overwhelm, or stuck patterns. It’s grounded in neuroscience and supports the integration of difficult experiences without needing to re-tell every detail. This method can be especially helpful when words aren’t enough — allowing your system to process and move toward healing in a more embodied way.

Nadine Ferguson

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Hello, I’m Nadine, and in the photo with me is my dog, Toby (I love dogs). (If you look closely, you can see the resemblance;).

I believe true healing happens when we feel seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to help you discover your own unique shape, one that honours your spirit, purpose, and lived experiences while building on your inherent strengths. I aim to create an environment where you feel supported, empowered, and inspired to explore new possibilities for growth and healing, ultimately becoming your best self.

In my practice, you will be met with a deeply attuned, nonjudgmental presence, fully engaged in your journey. Together, we will explore not just the challenges you face but also the strengths that can propel you toward a more fulfilling life. You don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

While working as a Registered Nurse in emergency departments and mental health, I have walked alongside people from all stages of life at their most vulnerable, witnessing both the weight of pain, trauma, and loss, as well as the beauty of resilience, joy, and healing. These experiences shape my approach, making it one that is integrative, holistic, and deeply attuned to your unique needs, honouring all aspects of your life and well-being. These experiences have fueled my passion for working with adolescents, families, couples, and individuals.

I offer an integrative, holistic, down-to-earth and collaborative approach that aims to honour every aspect of who you are; emotionally, physically, and relationally. Clients have told me they feel seen and validated in our work together. I use gentle humour to bring a sense of levity and connection, helping to create a safe space where meaningful healing can take place.  Whether you are seeking to improve relationships, deepen your understanding of yourself, or enhance your life, I am here to support and challenge you in a manner that is both compassionate, trauma-informed, and empowering. You won’t just feel heard; you will leave each session with tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Working with me is a blend of meaningful exploration and practical support. You'll leave each session with both insight and clear steps to help you move forward. Our time together will be a genuine conversation, encouraging, honest, and free of judgment.

My practice reflects a commitment to flowing with life’s natural rhythms while grounding you in the present moment.

I invite you to connect with me for a free 30-minute consultation to explore how we can work together on your journey of healing and growth, where connection, understanding, and genuine care come together to nurture the best version of you. I offer in-person and virtual counselling.
