Nadine Ferguson, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), with her dog Toby on a beach in Victoria, BC. Nadine provides attachment-focused, trauma-informed counselling for adults, adolescents, and couples through Shapes of Water Wellness.

The quality of our connections, within and between, shapes the quality of our lives.

Shapes of Water Wellness grew from years of witnessing what happens when human experience is asked to fit rigid systems, and what becomes possible when it is allowed to move more naturally.

In acute care nursing, I stand at bedsides where life reveals its fullest spectrum. Trauma, loss, healing, and change do not follow predictable lines. They move more like water, gathering, receding, and settling in their own time. Yet within structured systems, there is often pressure to contain what is fluid, to name what is still unfolding, or to direct what is not ready.

This work grows from a desire to bridge what is witnessed in these moments with what is often left unspoken.

Here, you are not asked to take a certain shape, but to notice the shape your experience already holds. Together, we create the conditions where it can be met, understood, and gently explored. Like water finding its path, healing is not forced. It emerges through contact, movement, and attention to what has been held beneath the surface.

Our work together is evidence-based, relational, and attuned to the nervous system, while remaining open to the deeper layers of human experience that shape how we heal.

Working Together

I offer individual and couples counselling for adults and adolescents navigating anxiety, life transitions, grief, relationship challenges, and questions of meaning.

With nearly 30 years of experience in nursing and mental health settings, my steadiness is shaped by supporting people through moments of crisis, vulnerability, and change. Many arrive carrying uncertainty or disconnection, alongside strengths that have helped them endure.

My approach is collaborative and responsive. At times, it may feel structured and grounded. At other times, it may be more open and exploratory, allowing space for emotions, thoughts, and sensations that have not yet found words. Alongside reflection and insight, there are practical tools to support your daily life and relationships.

Clients often describe this space as grounded, compassionate, and human. Warmth, presence, and gentle humour are woven into the work, with pacing guided by your nervous system and your needs as they evolve. Over time, many begin to notice a quiet shift, a sense of becoming more steady, more connected, and more able to move with their experience, like water finding its own natural rhythm.
